First-aid Services

Sir, —So “Unfit Runner” has the confounded cheek to criticise Christchurch’s firstaid service in this morning’s issue. My suggestion to him is that he join one of the numerous first-aid classes held at either St. John or Red Cross, and so be prepared to assist the injured or those taken suddenly ill himself, instead of looking round for someone else to do the job. Considering the very small number of people prepared to give their time to training and practising firstaid voluntarily, although the facilities are right there under everyone’s nose, I think “Unfit Runner” should be ashamed to see such a letter in print, and under a nom-de-plume.—Yours, etc., J. HEARNE. March 28, 1963.
