The Cashmere club'* new pavilion is now almost completed, and with a playing area for two rinks of 85ft by 30ft should provide excellent and comfortable conditions The evening competition for men has already drawn a full entry of 24 teams, while » morning competition for ladies’ teams has drawn a good entry. However. there is still room for a few more teams. The final games in the Reynolds’ Shield home-and-sway contest between the Sumner and Redeliffs clubs were played at Sumner on Saturday. Sumner won this leg by 117 to 112 and. having won the first round by 167 to 136. retained the trophy for the 1962-63 season. The final of the St. Martin’s club handicap pairs saw a very even game result in a 24-19 win to C. J. Cumberpatoh (skip) and M. R. Clark over D. Dixon and A. T. Burgess. The game, which was the club’s last championship event for the season, was even with four ends to go but then Cumberpatch and Clark took a narrow lead and did not relinquish it. The green conditions were perfect for the final game of the year. The Linwood club's rinks final was played recently and resulted in a win to S. Snedden (skip), S. Porter. J. Pycroft. and C. Wilkie over a fours skipped by G. Bennett. The same winning four had reached the semi-fine! of the Christchurch Centre champion of champion rinks where it was beaten by a four skipped by T. Yugovich (Beckenham) by the very close score of 20 to 19 Pycroft. a replacement in the team, performed most creditably for a second-year player and also won the handicap singles. The championship singles was won by G. Bennett, who was in top form to beat A Black. The handicap pairs were won by S N Hooper and F H Ward (skip), while C. Lawrey and C. L. Pillinger (skip) took the carmine pairs. In fours events, the Simes Cup was won by C. R Black. A. Bull, W.
