BAPTIST CHURCH CENTENARY
Celebration Plans
Plans for the celebration of the centenary of the Oxford terrace Baptist Church in August were outlined last evening at the annual meeting of the church. About 120 persons attended.
The centennial week services from August 4 to 11 will be conducted by former ministers. The reconstructed organ will be dedicated at a musical festival on August 8 and a banquet and conversazione will be held on August 10. Of the £lO,OOO cost of reconstructing the interior of the church, £6440 had been raised and £2677 was required to meet the contract price for the organ reconstruction, the meeting was told. Those attending the meeting saw a display of early manuscripts, photographs and other documents associated with the early years of the church. In the display was a minute book used in 1863 When the church first opened in Lichfield street before it moved to Hereford street and later to its present site in Oxford terrace.
