G. M. Doyle Wins Trophy Match Other attractions in the district were responsible for a smaller attendance of members than usual at a shoot held by the Ellesmere Gun Club on its ground at Leeston. Weather conditions were favourable. Best scores at skeet were registered by W. Morton, who broke the possible of 50 in two rounds, by W. R. Ford and W. D. M. West, each 23 in one round, and P. G. Washbourne and L. A. Hantz, 21. The all-ons in a five-target eye-opener at straight clays were A. A. Peterson, W. L. Gabh? e , G. M. Doyle. J. Rogers, and H. Rogers. The principal event was a 15target match for two trophies. Possibles were scored by C. C. Skinner, W. L. Gabbie. G. M. Doyle and J. Rogers, Doyle winning the shoot-off at the eleventh round to take the first trophy and Skinner the second Shooters with 14 on were U. H. Greenwood, A. A. Peterson, E. G. Amyes. 3. Weir, P. G. Washbourne, H. Rogers, A. A. Greenwood, and W. A Anderson. A 10-pair double-rise was won by A. A. Greenwood with 17 breaks, P. G. Washbourne being next with 15, while E. L. F. Donald, C. C. Skinner, and L. H. Greenwood each broke 14. W. L. Gabbie won a flrst-miss-out from W. E. Moorhead at the eighth round.
Earthquake in Fiji.—The University of California seismograph station reported that it recorded a sharp earthquake in the region of the Fijian islands at 1000 G.M.T. today, the Associated Press reported.—(Berkeley, March 26.)
