BALANCE OF PAYMENTS

£Bm Surplus In February (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 27. There was an over-all surplus of £B.lm in New Zealand's overseas exchange transactions in February, the Reserve Bank said in a Statement issued today. The favourable trade balance of £11.9m was £3.5m higher than for February last year, due mainly to buoyant receipts from exports. Most of the increase came from the sale of wool (£3.Bm), meat (£o.Bm), and butter (£l.Bm). Payments for imports were £3.7m higher than in February, 1962. “Invisible” receipts and payments remained at about their usual level for February, although there was a slightly increased deficit, compared with last year.
