U.N. DEFICIT

U.K. Plan Fails To Please U.S. (N Z.P. A .-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, March 26. The United States today rejected British proposals for solving the United Nations financial crisis and reaffirmed its refusal to bail out the world body when other members failed to meet their obligations. The British suggestion would discount contributions by under-developed countries and place the major burden on the well-to-do lands. According to an informed source, the United States representative (Mr F. Plimpton) said in the committee which is considering the financial problem that the British plan was “interesting.” But neither this nor any other proposal so far put forward was acceptable to America. A reliable informant said the group now was expected to report within the next few days that it was unable to agree on any recommenda-

tion to the General Assembly which is due to meet in special session, on this problem on May 14.
