FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A weak cold front is advancing from the west on to the south-west of the North Island and a ridge of high pressure is advancing across the central Tasman Sea towards northern areas of the South Island. Forecast: — Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds, decreasing slowly later; fine writh mild day temperatures. Outlook: fine. Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate to fresh north-westerlies; fine and mild. Outlook: partly cloudy Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh west to south-west winds; partly cloudy; scattered light showers; moderate temperatures. Outlook: a few light showers.
