Police Sale Of Bicycles

Buyers paid up to £l3 10s for good sports-model bicycles ottered at auction on behalf of the Police Department yesterday. There were 93 bicycles for sate—ell unclaimed by their owners in the six mouths they have been in police hands. “Police sales always seem to draw more than ordinary sales,” said Mt D. R. Smith, the auctioneer, yesterday “This was one of the biggest the police have had, and there were some quite good bikes among them. “Prices for average bikes ranged from £l9 to £l3, and the roughies went from £1 upwards. We had about 260 persons there. There were also a few gloves and bite of clothing and odds and ends ” The money realised by the sate will go into the Public Accounts.
