Centennial Pool Not Suitable Oanterbuiy's application for the New Zealand championships next year is to be withdrawn. The decision to withdraw the application to th* New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was made by the Canterbury Centre's management committee last evenini’. The decision was made after a letter had been received from the Town Clerk (Mr C. S. Bowie 1 saying tliat tender* were being called for the completion of the Centennial Pool buildings and that the work was not expected tn be completed before October 1. 1964 In view of that, the centre might wish to reconeidet it* application to liold the championships at the Centennial Pool. Mr Bowie said. "You will, of course, realise that during building operatkms spectator facilities will be very rertrtoted. although the main pool will be open all summer as usual."
