No Settlement In Sight (N.ZJ’A.-Reutrr—Copyright) PARIS, March 26. The strike by 240,000 French coal miners goes into its 26th day today. But there is still no sign of settlement in the grim wage struggle between the Government and the miners and workers in other State-run industries. There was no immediate union reaction to a television appeal last night by the Information Minister (Mr Alain Peyrefltte) to the miners not to drag the country Into economic chaos by prolonging the strike. Mr Peyrefltte said the scale of increases the Government was prepared Jo grant would reach 8 per cent on October 1 and total 12.5 per cent, by April 1 next year. He described as unfounded reports that the Government offer, which he called “more than reasonable,” was spread over two years.
