Nigerian Report (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LAGOS. March 18. The West African newspaper. “Pilot," said today Nigeria would become a republic next October I—the third anniversary of the country’s independence. It said an announcement would be made when the Federal House of Representatives meet later this month. No comment was immediately available from official Government sources. The “Pilot,’ ’a pro-Govern-ment newspaper, said the news was “not as yet official,” but was “most authoritstivc.** It added that law officials were working on legal and constitutional amendments “in preparation for the great day.”
