INFECTIVE HEPATITIS
Six Cases In N. Canterbury
Six notifications of infective hepatitis in North Canterbury were among the reports of notifiable disease mode to the Christchurch health office last week. At least two of them were at a remote Electricity Department camp, another in the Culverden district, and the others in the Hanmer area. All were men. Two city men were also reported with the disease.
A 66-year-old city man was notified with tetanus, and another city man with pulmonary tuberculosis. A young man and two small children, a boy and girl, were reported with bacillary dysentery. All were in Papanui, but in different dwellings.
Three cases of pemphigus neonatorum, a staphylococcal infection of the newborn, occurred in Christchurch hospitals.
Two cases of occupational diseases were reported during the week. A man of 44 was notified with deafness, and a man of 59 with occupational dermatitis.
