Telegram Of Denial (From Our Own Roportor) WELLINGTON, February 25. A telegram denying that the Government had ever entered into correspondence
with the Italian company, Societa Anonima Electricazione on the Manapouri project waa eent today by the Minister of Electricity (Mr Gooeman) to Mr Mathison, member of Parliament for Avon.
The telegram reads: “Replying your telegram. New Zealand Government has not at any stage entered into any correspondence or arrangements with SAL regarding Manapouri-Jnvercar-gill transmission.**
It was in reply to a telegram from Mr Mathison saying: "Rumoured in Christchurch that Government has invited Italian company S.A.E. to plan and erect transmission lines from the Manapouri scheme and that this invitation includes the right to bring Italian workers to New Zealand.
