Alliance Strike Endorsed

(N.Z. Pre** Association) DUNEDIN, Feb. 25.

Slopwork meetings will be held at ail freezing works in Otago and Southland tomorrow after a meeting of the Freezing Workers’ Union district executive today had endorsed the strike action by the Alliance branch. The meeting, in Dunedin, had considered the alleged blacklisting of a union member by the Alliance Freezing Company. "The executive fully endorsed the action at the Alliance branch in stopping wohk in defence of the right of the man to work in the industry in which he has given many years of service,’’ said the district secretary, Miss M. J. Hill.

“A policy In relation to tihiis dispute was laid down and all delegates will now report to stopwork meetings to be held at all works tomorrow.

‘‘lt was further decided tfriat our delegates on the Oamaru, Otago and Southland Trades Councils will give reports tomorrow of recent developments covering the policy of the union uip to the present.”

Miss Hili declined to state what the policy which had been laid down recommended, saying it was “only courtesy” that branch members should be told first. Observers stall consider that the dispute may lead to a spread of the strike.
