Women's Softball DEFEAT FOR MONOWAI

Christchurch Beats Leader Th« main intereit on Saturday tn the Canterbury Softball Association women's competitions was the defeat of the leading senior side. Monowai. Christchurch fielded and batted well to completely outplay a lethargic Monowai side and win convincingly 9-5. Hagley displayed too much power with the bat to win easily against Kaiapoi. Results.— Christchurch 9, Monowai Hagley 25, Kaiapoi 19. Christchurch v. Monowai Monowai opened its first innings when B. Makinson scored on a three-base hit by N. Beale. It consolidated its position in the next innings when good hits by M. Hapuku E Law. L. Leask and B Makinson enabled the side to score three runs. Sure fielding by Christchurch held Monowai scoreless on the next three innings. Good base-running by L Leask brought in Monowai's only other run in the sixth innings as the side was three up. three down in its last, the last catch being taken in brilliant fashion by L.
