AXEMEN’S TEAM

Match Against Australia (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. A Pelorous Sound axeman, G. Hocquard, has been chosen to captain the New Zealand axeman's team to compete against Australia for the Edward Haistrom Trophy and £5OO in cash during the Royal Easter show in Sydney. Seven axemen have been selected by Messrs J. Sandero (chairman). J. Hare and C. Donnelly. The team in the competition will number six. In addition to Hocquard. I. Davidson (Whangarei). W. Curtain (Hokitika), D. Lamberton (Tokoroa). W. Liddell (West Coast). T. Reid (Bluff) and L. Bolstad (Raurimu) have been chosen. As reserve* should any of th* seven relected be unable to travel, R. Monteith (Invercargill) and R. Dickson (West Coast) have been selected for underhand chops snd R Edwards (Opotikl) and R. Davidson (Tokoroa) for the standing chops.
