DUNEDIN, February 24. A former Brabin cricketer, G. Cowles (Union A), took two hat-tricks in one innings against St. Patrick’s in a North Otago senior match on Saturday.

Cowles had taken four for 30 in the first innings with his in-swipgers, before St Patrick’s faced

him again, needing 161 to win outright. He took his first hattrick with the third.

fourth, and fifth balls of his second over, and then repeated the performance in his third over. At one stage Cowles had nine wickets for one run, but the tail-enders

“got hold of him,” and he had to be content with final figures of nine for six, off nine overs.
