Biggest Number For 16 Years (N ,Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 21. Britain's unemployment figures rose to 878,356 this month, the highest level for 16 years, the Labour Ministry announced. The provisional figure for February was 63,257 more than for January. The Ministry blamed severe weather for the sharp rise. The percentage of the working force unemployed was 3.9 per cent, in February, compared with 3.6 per cent, in January and 2 per cent, in February, 1962. The total included 660,761 wholly unemployed and 217,595 temporarily unemployed. Northern Ireland had the highest percentage of unemployed, 11.2 per cent. The figure for Scotland was 6.2 per cent.
