The Commonwealth has felt the Windt of Change, A little cold for Comfort in some Parts. The y ble w from Europe, “a disturbed Air Stream" Then disconcertingly, in Fits and Starts.
Some found it bracing, Others shivered slightly. Being unaccustomed to this kind of Weather: But Most fell back on Faith—the Commonwealth By some mysterious Means would hang together. The Wind for France stood Anythin* but fair; Bold Skipper Mac could make no Channel Crossing But put the Tiller down, while ALL aboard That luckless Lugger grumbled at the Tossing.
We Commonwealthers, waving on the Shore, Doubtful if Cheers, or stifled Sobs, would suit The strange Occasion best, kept largely silent. Or blamed the Weather, rather than be mute.
It wasn’t OUR Decision, it was Britain’s Not Britain’s either, in the last Event! The Winds of Change blow hot and cold—or tepid— Between the Commonwealth and Continent. Now in this fateful Calm, a few warm Airs Puffed from the British Isles in this Direction. Reciprocally answered, may revive THEIR Interest in the Commonwealth Connexion. Discovering the Commonwealth! Some Britons Fve met have Plenty to discover Here. It’s UP to Them, and Us, first to discover What those Words MEAN . . . You Uy. Sir.. I'm no Seer!
