r rHE acconipaiyfjng grajito 1 showing the movement at prices at the four ChriMchurch wood sales this season for fine halfbred fleece, fine crossbred fleece and medium crossbred fleece indicates the continuing upward movement in prices this season and the very striking advance recorded at the fourth sale last week.

Compared with the December sale, values for fine halfbred fleece last week were up by 6d a lb, for fine crossbred by 4d and medium by 3d, and over the season up to last week fine halfbred had moved up by 7Jd, fine crossbred by 6sd and medium crossbred by 4fd. The 1961-82 season began in each ease with prices than at the opening

this season, but over the same period last season there was a downward movement of Hd in the ease of fine halfhred fleece, 3Jd for fine crossbred and 2Jd for medium crossbred. Last week fine halfbred fleece was sjd higher than a year ago, fine crossbred 4id higher and medium crossbred 31d higher. The graph is based on the Wool Commission’s market report. Preliminary figures for three of the catalogues sold last week give averages for the sale varying from 46.43 d a lb to 47.57 d a lb and from £65 6s lid a bale to £65 17s 4d. For the catalogues of these firms sold in December averages ranged from 44.06 d to 44.66 d or from £6l, fis lOd to £62 5s 3d a bale.
