Reconnaisance Role Important
fN.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Feb. 22. Helicopters are an integral part of many army unite today, according to the Director of Land and Air Warfare for the British War Office. Major-General G. P L Weston. ‘They have a very important role in reconnaissance particularly in conjunction witii armoured regiments and artillery,” he said is Auckland this evening. Major-General Weston, who is in charge of Britain’s special air squadrons, parachutists, army pilots and army air transport, arrived in Auckland from Sydney tonight for talks with New Zealand Army authorities On his way back to Britain, Major-General Weston hopes to see New Zealand’s S.A.S. troops and army pilots ~n action in Malaya.
