Manapouri
Sir,—l wish to protest against the employment of an overseas firm of engineering consultants for work to be done at Manapouri This is not the first instance of the New Zealand Government's employing overseas consultants for work which could be done perfectly well by New Zealand firms. In the present case, besides saving some considerable amount of overseas currency for fees, local engineers would have the advantage of reedy access to the site and the probability of being able to improve on such plans and proposals as may have been produced already by the San Francisco firm. Throughout all these proceedings, our Government appears to have been hypnotised by Comaleo.—Yours, etc., ARTHUR LUSH. February 21, 1963.
