Yachting TWO LEADERS CAPSIZE
Auckland Boat Moves Up (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. M.
• After Schemer, the Sydney Eacht, had capsized in a colsion with a launch, D. E. Brooke's Jesebel revived Auckland’s chances in the international 18-footer yachting contest by winning the third heat on the Waitemata today. Schemer, however, still leads the series on points, as R. J. Kean's Joanne, which had previously been in second place, capsized when gybing round the sandspit buoy. Like Schemer, it gained no points from the race. The Sydney boat. The Fox. dead-heated for second place with Venus .the Auckland boat. The Mast of Surprise, the Fijian entrant, was damaged when the yacht fell off her cradle during last night’ storm, and did not start.
Assuming that The Fox and Venus divide the points normally awarded for second and third place, the points are:— 200.0: Schemer (K. Beashel, Sydney). 174.84: Jezebel (D Brooke. Auckland). 144.16: San Jose (G. Hanks. Sydney). 129.99: Venire (R. Stone. Auckland). 128.68: Joanne (R. Kean. Auckland). 113.83: The Fox (H. Trehame. Sydney). 112.70: Wild Goose (A. Barclay, Auckland). 10714: Donnelly (W. Miller, Sydney). 75.83: Hot Toddy (N. Todkill, Brisbane). 15.56: Surprise (D. Nicholson; Suva).
