Burns Road Pit An “Eyesore”
Paper and other rubbish blown from the Waimairi County Council’s dump in Bunns road was a disgraceful eyesore and a very dangerous fire hazard, said Mr T. W. Bum in a letter received by the council last evening. He also complained of “the serious fly menace’’ in the area. Mr W. R. Maiin, the county inspector, said he bad found the pit in reasonably good order. In high winds, possibly some paper was blown on to Mr Bunn’s adjoining property.
To Cr. V. P. Raibbitte, Mr Main said there was no netting fence around the dump. Some persons dumped rubbish without the council’s knowledge after the pit was closed, and this could contribute to the paper nuisance, he said. Cr. A. A. Adcock said the pit was now almost full and it would soon be necessary for the dumping to be done in another pit further away from Mr Burn's property.
The council decided to advise Mr Burn that it keeps the pit as tidy and as hygienic as possible in the
