SCOUT AWARDS APPROVED
Medal And Four Certificates
The Governor-General (Sir Bernard Fergusson) as Dominion Chief Scout, has approved the following awards:— Medal of Merit: Mr R. E. Howard. Certificates of Merit: Mrs A Terras, Mr D. C. Nelimes, and Mr J. A. Garland. Mr Howard' has been district commissioner of the Rimu district since 1953. Mr Nelmes has been district scoutmaster of the Culverden group since 1959. He was assistant scoutmaster of the group in 1953, and in 1954 received his warrant as scoutmaster at Waiau. Mr J. A. Garland has been chairman of the Rimu scout district since 1953. He was chairman of the Riecarton scout group in 1950. In 1961 he was chairman of the organising committee for the provincial soao-box derby. Mrs A. Terras is chairman of the Aranui scout group She was treasurer in 1945 and secretary in 1948.
