Death Sentence For Murder
(N.Z.PA.-Reuter—Copi/risht) MELBOURNE, Feb. 20. Two youths were found guilty late yesterday of having murdered a taxi driver, Djurc Poprxan, at East Keilor, near Melbourne, last September & Dennis Lewis, aged 19, a Welsh migrant labourer with no relatives in Australia, was sentenced to death. Matthew Thomas Evans, aged 17, was ordered by Mr Justice Gillard In be detained during the Governor’s pleasure. The Crown said that Evans shot Poprzan, in the course of a joint robbery with Lewis.
