Window Smashed With Bottle

A cleaner in St. Kevin’s arcade, Karangahape road, who heard a window of a jewellery shop being smashed by a milk bottle early this morning, telephoned the police, who caught a man running through Myers Park. Later, before Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., Henry Samuel Johnson, aged 59, a metal polisher, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering the shop. Convicting Johnson, the Magistrate remanded him until February 27 for a probation officer’s report and sentence.
Antarctic Trip— A Soviet tractor-sledge expedition which left Mirny on the edge of the Antarctic Continent last January 21 arrived yesterday at Vostock international station, about 400 miles inland, Tass reported.— (Moscow, Frttruary 19.)
