Main bowls fixtures set down for the week, February 21 to February. 28, inclusive, are:—Today: All-day tournament at Opawa, electric light tournament at Beckenham. Saturday: Christchurch Centre’s champion of champion pairs, Malvern sub-centre away match, all-day tournaments at Christchurch, W.rC, Shirley (pairs). Sunday: Tournaments at Allenton (Ashburton), R.S.A., South Brighton, Woolston, WJH.C., Cust, Shirley (pairs). Monday: Electric light tournament at Beckenham. Tuesday: Electric light tournaments at Cashmere, Redcliffs. Wednesday: Electric light tournament at Spreydon. Thursday: Allday tournament at Cashmere, electric light tournament at Beckenham.

Excellent support has again been received from Canterbury bowlers by the Nelson Bowling Centre for its annua) Easter tournament, according to the secretary of the Nelson body (Mr K. V. Wilkens). Although entries do not close until March 4, 19 fours have already indicated that they propose to participate in the Nelson tournament. Last Easter, 25 fours from the .Christchurch Centre took part in the tournament A number of former regular visitors have not yet' submitted their entries, but are expected to do so in the near future.

The Sumner Bowling Club's pairs championship has been won by G. Hammond (lead) and “Buck” Main (skip). They played S. Wales (lead) and H. Tuck (skip) on a rather heavy green in the final. It was a very evenly contested game until the fourteenth end when a three to Main brought the score to 16-11 in his favour. On the nineteenth end the score was 19-14 and a further two to Main on the twentieth decided the issue. Both pairs played very good bowls throughout the competition, each taking one life from the other.

A team skipped by R. Powell won the fours championship of the Sumner Bowling Club, which was played during the week-end. Powell’s team was a much better combination than any of the opposition met throughout the competition. However, J Bamford’s rink, which contested the final, although weU beaten, deserved credit for keeping the match down to singles in the early stages. Only singles were scored until the eighth end when Powell scored a three to make the score 8-3. A further run of. singles followed, nearly al) in Powell’s favour and on the fourteenth the score was 13-5. On the nineteenth, the lead was increased to 17-7, and another single on the twentieth ended the game. The teams were: G. Hammond, R. Wilkinson, M. Main, and Powell (skip); R. Huston, N. Main, R. Schulze, and Bamford (skip).

In the final of the Dalllngton Bowling Club’s pairs championship, N. Austin and R. McKendiy beat D. Martin and L. Newton. 23-17. A feature of the match was the excellent drawing of Austin. E. Boaz beat A. Gracie, 18-17. in the final of the colts championship. Boaz led, 12-1, in the early stages, but Gracie made a magnificent comeback to even the score, 17-17. on the twentieth end. On the last end, Boaz held two shots. Gracie trailed the jack with his last bowl, but Boaz, a first year player, won the shot on a measure.

The tournament which was to be held on the Opawa Bowling Club’s green last Sunday was cancelled because of rain.

The Canterbury Diggers’ bowling championships will be held on March 3 and 3. The headquarters green will be at the R.SA. club. About 120 fours are expected to compete.

K. Perry, who has performed very Well over the last two seasons, has won the Sydenham Bowling Club's colts singles title for the second time in succession. He beat E. Hili in the final in one of the closest games he has ever played. Hill played magnificently but could not quite match Perry’s finish. First year players from the club who have shown ability include J. Cartmill, I. Lambie, N. Bouterey, W Davies and R. Blackburn AU are expected to compete more prominently next season.
