Steps to control and exterminate opossums are to be initiated by the Dominion council of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. This was decided by delegates to the fortieth annual conference held in Christchurch yesterday. The opossum menace was said to be increasing throughout the country. The Dominion president, Mr J. F. Living, reported that membership stood at 1990. Progress had been made with the establishing of a university chair or horticulture. Interest was being shown by the chairman of the University Grants Committee, he said. Officers elected were.—Patron.
