Sir Henry Has Form For Te Rapa Mile

"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. Feb. 15. The prospect of a fast mile In the Storey Memorial Handicap and a big test of stamina in the Waikato Hack Stayers' Plate is arousing keen interest in the Waiktao Racing Club's summer meeting at Te Rapa tomorrow. Sir Henry and Winnipeg II are popular fancies for the mile, but there is no saying which will be the favourite for toe Waikato Stayers' Plate.

Form at the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting last month strongly suggests Sir Henry and Winnlpeg_u for toe Storey Memorial. They were toe first two when they last raced, in the January Handicap. a mile, at Trentham on January 26. „ On that occasion Sir Henry beat Winnipeg H by a neck. This time he will be meeting her only 21b worse with 9-3, as against 9-3 in toe January Handicap. Winnipeg H Is down 71b to 7-7. Besides Sir Henry and Winnipeg n, the good gallopers in toe Storey Memorial include Gitano, Royal Dee and Gay Gavotte. At his best Royal Dee is a most capable sprinter. If he is able to go a mile as well he will be very hard to beat under toe featherweight of 7-4.

The Storey Memorial wUI be the first leg of toe TAR double. In toe second leg, toe Vice-President's Handicap, an Intermediate middle-distance. Nett Price, Persian Fair, and Slmca appear the best chances. Another interesting candidate for the Vice-President’s Handicap is Golden Defaulter, a topclass jumper which will be resuming racing after a summer spell. The two miles course in the Waikato Stayers’ Plate is going to be very tough for many of the contestants, which are of fairly moderate duality. Breakfast is one of toe runners likely to last the distance pretty well, and others are Ravenwood and Nelita. After a long spell at hot weather the ground is very firm, and unless there is a sudden change toe going will be fast. Selections:—
