WINNER OF £38,528
The Wingatui stayer, Great Sensation, already the top stakewinning thoroughbred in New Zealand, will take his earnings past £40,000 if he wins the Queen Elizabeth II Handicap at Riccarton today.
Great Sensation, in seven seasons of racing, has won £38,528 from 20 wins and 19 platings in 55 starts. His main wins were his three Wellington Cups, but he also has two Dunedin Cups, the Invercargill Gold Cup, the Hazlett Gold Cup and the Riverton Cup. If the 10-year-old wins today he will add £2450 to his winnings and another £l5O gold cup to his owner’s collection of trophies.
