GAOLED FOR THEFT
Failure To Account
Michael Colin Harris, a Bnesman, aged 26, who was convicted on three charges of theft, was sentenced to atx moriths" gaol by Mr Justice Macarttmr in the Supreme Court yesterday. Harris (Mr J. G. Leggait) had been found guilty of failing to account to Charles Irwta Mams flor amounts totalling £65 9s 8d received from three persons flor goods soM on Mains’ account. Mr Leggat said drinking and gambling to etocess contributed to Harris’s troubles. St was not a premeditated course of conduct, but somettriog Harris bad drifted into or resorted to because of ewfraneous events. His Honour said Harris appeared to have been dealt with leniently by toe Magistrate who sentenced him to one month’s-gaoi and a year’s probation for theft in 1961. At a much earlier stage Harris had undergone a period of Borstal training. He could clearly do no other than sentence Harris to a term of imprisonment now. His Honour sentenced Harris to six months’ gaol on each of three charges, toe sentences to be served concurrently.
