Mr D. J Cobbe. the radio engineer who brought television to Rotorua by building the city’s translator, received his first payment today for his pioneering work The Rotorua Televiewers' Society sent Mr Cobbe a cheque for £487 In payment for two translators, the new five-watt unit which will begin operation tonight and the original one-watt unit.

The society also received good news today. The N.Z.B.C. said it would pay the full year’s maintenance costs of £lBO to keep the society’s translator on Mount Ngongotaha working.
