Subsidy Given River Scheme

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Feb. 15. The Government has approved a £3 for £1 subsidy for the Southland Catchment Board’s £620.000 Makarewa river scheme. The Minister of Works (Mr Goosman) said today that the scheme would make possible the full development of 10,800 acres of waste area and of 12,000 acres of semi-developed land. The main works were expected to be completed in about six years. Some men never feel small, but these are the few men who are.—G. K. Chesterton.
