Smart Bearing Of Otago
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 14. The frigate Otago ended her Royal escort duties off Taiaroa Head this afternoon by manning the ship and giving three cheers for the Queen. Otago join me in thanking Your Majesty for these good wishes. We look forward to a future occasion when the Royal New Zealand Navy may again have the honour of escorting Your Majesty.” Not Starting Miss Doreen Porter, the national sprint champion and Empire Games silver medallist, has withdrawn from the Dunedin Royal athletic meeting on medical advice. Miss Porter has been unwell since returning from her trip to Los Angeles and has been ordered to have a complete rest.
