BALANCE OF TRADE

£465m Decline In E.E.C.

(N.Z.P.A.-R.euter—Copyright) BRUSSELS, Feb. 13. The Common Market Executive Commission said in Brussels today that the community’s balance of trade last year would probably end about £465.000,000 below the figure tor 1961. More than half the decline was because of German trade figures, but the trade balances of France and Italy also declined. The trend was likely to continue this year, although not to the same extent as last year, the commission said. The deterioration was having a favourable effect on the international balanee-of-paymenta situation and the general economic situation, and helping to curb rising prices in the community.
