Starters And Riders
Starters and riders for ths elephant race from Park terrace round to Gloucester street next Friday have been decided as follows: Peg»v: <W. R. Careton, “The Press”). Alice: (J. L. Ward. 3ZB>.
Jumbo: (H. G. Hay. City Council). Sue: (E. Chivers, Hay's, Ltd.).
Betty: (L. C. H. Suckling. Lion’s Club). Cleo: (L. H. Govan. Rotary). Jean: (H. F. Royds. Junior Chamber).
The field is the biggest to face the starter since the circus owning the elephants began races for charity. In the city a collection will ba taken for the first contributions towards a fund for rebuilding the Salvation Army men’s home, a project which has the support of all th* Christchurch service elubs.
