FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone centred to the east of the country is moving away. A complex trough of low pressure in the Tasman Sea is moving eastwards towards the south of the South Island. Forecast:— Marlborough and Nelson.—Light to moderate norther lies, fresh to strong about Cook Strait; partly cloudy and mild. Outlook: partly cloudy; showers at times. Canterbury.—Light variable winds inland, fresh to strong north-easterlies about the coast; partly cloudy and warm. Outlook: occasional showers. Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh northeast winds; becoming overcast with rain in the south spreading northwards later; mild temperatures. Outlook: occasional showers.
