VISITING HOURS AT HOSPITAL
Change For Royal Visit Because of the Royal visit to Christchurch visiting hours at the Christchurch Hospital on Sunday would not begin until 4.15 p.m., the chairman of the North Canterbury Hospital Board (Dr. L. C. L. Averill) said yesterday.
“On Sunday afternoon, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh win visit the Botanic Gardens, leaving there about 4 pm.,” Dr. Averill said. “At the suggestion of the Christchurch City Council and the Royal tour organisers, arrangements have been made for those Christchurch Hospital patients whose medical condition permits to be taken to a small area in the hospital grounds on the riverbank, from which they will see the Royal party leave the gardens. “The area will be under police supervision, and is only able to accommodate
patients and their attending nursing staff. “No doubt many relatives of patients who would normally be visiting the hospital at this time will also wish to see the Royal party either entering or leaving toe gardens. As it will not be possible for them to do so from toe hospital grounds, visiting hours for the day will be altered. For Sunday only, they will not start until 4.15 pm., one hour later than usual. “Relatives win thus be able to see toe Royal party before visiting the hospital, and by 4.15 p.m. it is hoped the patients on the river-bank will have been returned to the wards. This alteration applies only to toe Christchurch Hospital, and only for Sunday, February 17.”
