Pensioners’ Flats
Sir,—Apropos of your article on pensioner housing I cannot help wondering just how soundproof pi aster board walls will be. It seems to me that this is important for people who will be spending the rest ot their lives in one not very large room (with alcove), however pleasant, especially as age and circumstances make it likely that they will rely a good deal on home entertainment, the radio, etc. Might pensioners be willing to pay a little more if necessary for the added privacy afforded by a brick wall, or whatever material was formerly used in the flats?—Yours, etc., QUIET. PLEASE February 13, 1963.
