PROGRESS ON THE NEW GLADESVILLE BRIDGE spanning the Parramatta river two miles and a half from Sydney harbour. The new bridge, which will form part of the future north-western expressway serving a large section of the northern area of the metropolis, will have six traffic lanes, with most of the roadway 72ft wide, and two 6ft footpaths. The bridge is being built by British and Australian engineers and contractors. It consists of a four-ribbed concrete arch having a clear span of 1000 ft, and on each side of the arch four approach spans, each 100ft long. The total length of the bridge will be 1900ft.
