Miss Gleeson
The girls’ section of the International Club of New Zealand junior tournament
in Christchurch ended with victory to Miss S. Mackey, who beat Miss P. Gleeson in the final, 6-3, 6-3. Miss Mackey will consequently represent Canterbury in the New Zealand semi-finals to be played to Wellington. The Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin winners will also take part The first set of the Christchurch final was very even up to 3-all, but Miss Mackey then forced Miss Gleeson into many errors by attacking from the net at every opportunity. Miss Gleeson countered these tactics to the second set by lobbing weil and playing some effective backhand shots. The continued pressure applied by Mias Mackey, however, forced Miss Gleeson into overhitting. and Miss Mackey won the set and match comfort-«bl4-v
