Clean Heart Succeeds (NX Prase Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb. 13. The New Zealand horse, Clean Heart, which featured in a remarkable betting drift, won at his first start in Australia when he landed the Cup Hurdta at Fakenham this afternoon. He drifted from 3/1 to 8/1 and defeated his stable-mate, Newville, which started favourite at 11/8 on. Deep Tan was third in the 14furlong race. Clean Heart arrived in Melbourne from New Zealand last Thursday.
He ran a brilliant race today, making up 25 lengths at one stage to win by a length. Clean Heart was ridden by the New Zealander, L. Hodren, who was having his first ride to Australia.
Clean Heart made light of his 10-12 and has only 10-4 in the Yuroke Hurdle (two miles and one furlong) at Moonee Valley on Saturday. The prominent New Zealand trainer, R. Howe, sent Clean Heart to the Melbourne trainer, R. McLaren.
Clean Heart will be prepared for toe Grand National Hurdle at Flemington to July.
Stradown To Resume (N.Z. Press Asm.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb. 13. The former New Zealand sprint winner, Stradown, will resume racing next month for the rich autumn races in Melbourne and Sydney. D. Judd, who is preparing Stradown at Flemington, said today Stradown would be withdrawn from the Glenroy Handicap at Moonee Valley on Saturday. But if Stradown did well in the next two weeks he would run in the £2OOO Hawksburn Handicap at Caulfield on March 9, Judd said. Stradown is to the £7lOO Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on March 16, the Malayan Cup in Sydney on April 6, and the Doncaster Handicap on April 13. “I’m not preparing Stradown for any particular race in the autumn. It will depend on how he shapes when he resumes racing,” Judd said.

Acceptors At Te Rapa (NJZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Feb. 12. Plakonul, sent yesterday as an acceptor for the Juvenile Handicap at Te Rapa on Saturday, is not in the field. In his place should be Piriaka (9) 7-91 Ann Cherie is not an acceptor for the Waikato Stayers’ Plate. In her place is Annrae (19) 7-10 Christmas Spirit, in the Whatawhata Handicap, should be Christmas Fair (5) 7-10. Count Carmel should be Count Calorie (15) 7-10.
