Titleholder Has First Defeat

GREYMOUTH, Feb. 13. The defeat at W. P. O’Neill’s Carlton rink In the sixth round of section play this morning has greatly heightened speculation as to which team will win this year s West Coast Bowling Ce J?,V, es fours championship. O Neill, winner of last year’s title, who was also successful in the New Zealand rinks championship at Wellington last month, was defeated this morning on the Blaketown green by h’tX’uS. rink ’ * kfpped by Runanga was always in command and led from the start. At one stage O’Neill had a six recorded against him and, in spite of his valiant eSorts to save the game, he went down.

Play yesterday took place in bright sunshine and with the greens in excellent order. Postsection play tomorrow will commence at 9.30 a m. on the Greymouth and Blaketown greens.
