Traffic Delayed
In Papanui Road
Traffic on Papanui road was delayed between 5 p.m. and 6 pan. yesterday after the jib of a crane and a sheep truck came into collision at the corner of Papanui road and Blighs road a few minutes before 5 p.m. The crane, owned by an engineering firm, was entering Papanui road when its jib struck the upper portion of a sheep truck travelling north on Papanui road. The truck, which is owned by Cheviot Transport, Ltd., was only slightly damaged and none of the sheep it was carrying was injured.
The impact forced the jib on to the cab of the crane and the cab was considerably damaged. No persons were injured.
The steering of the crane was damaged in the accident and it was more than an hour
before the crane was moved. A traffic officer directed traffic round the jib, which protruded across Papanui road.
Theft From School.— Several pounds were stolen from the Avonside Girls* High School on Monday night The North Linwood Intermediate School in Woodham road was entered on Tuesday night but it is not known if anything was stolen. ,
