LIGHT PLANE DUE
Flight From U.S. Next Week A twin-engined Piper Apache aircraft is due at Christchurch' airport next Tuesday after a five-day delivery flight from the United States. It is to be flown across the Pacific by an American pilot, and is expected to leave the United States tomorrow. The Apache has been bought by the Wellington Aero Club for its ambulance and charter operations. The aircraft is a 1959 model and was picked up in San Antonio, Texas, from where it was flown to Miami, Florida, to have long-range fuel tanks fitted. After it arrives in Christchurch the aircraft will be taken over by Airwork (New Zealand), Limited to be modified for its use by the Wellington Aero Club. Two weeks after its arrival at Christchurch the Apache is expected to be in the hands of the club.
