Bowls OPEN SINGLES
Date Of Final Rounds A change In date for the concluding rounds of the open singles was reported to the Christchurch Bowling Centre by Mr J. T. Blsman.
Mr Bisman said that as some of the competitors in the open singles were still in the open pairs it had been decided to bring the open singles forward from February 16 to February 13 on the Fendalton green. The open singles was a mid-week fixture, and he felt it only right to keep It to i mid-week fixture.
Mr T. A. Leitch said he had attended a meeting of sports bodies on January 31 to discuss the staging ot the Empire Games in Christchurch in 1970. He had told the meeting that sufficient greens could be found for the bowling section, with the necessary facilities for spectators.
To the delegates Mr Leitch said that bowling was out for the 1966 games. If bowling was excluded from the 1970 games he felt that the centre should give its wholehearted support to the effort being made for the staging of the games in Christchurch.
