ATHLETES HOME FROM AMERICA
Halberg Trained Between Flights (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 12. P. G. Snell, who returned from the United States this afternoon, said his defeat by J. Grelle had probably done him a lot of good. He intends to start training again in earnest just as soon as he can. He thought he might have been too complacent. With Snell came M. G. Halberg and the sprinter, Miss D. Porter. Halberg, who had been to Canada to speak at a charity dinner, said he began his training for the national championships when in Honolulu yesterday during a wait between aircraft. Mias Porter, who was beaten into fifth place in the 60 yards sprint final in Los Angeles, revealed a wellkept secret. She had been forced to seek medical advice shortly before the race and had not been in top condition for the event. This was confirmed by her faster time in the heat than in the final.
