LONG-SERVICE AWARD

Chief Petty Officer F. H. Jefferies

Chief Petty Officer F. H. Jefferies was presented with the clasp to the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve long service and good conduct medal at a ceremony at H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus this week. The presentation was made by Commander R. M. J O’Connor, commanding officer of the Canterbury division of the reserve.

Chief Petty Officer Jefferies joined the reserve in October, 1936, was mobilised at the outbreak of World War II and served fairly continuously at sea during the whole of that period on the Achilles and Gambia. Demobilised in 1945, he rejoined *he active reserve in 1949 and has served continuously ever since.
