NUCLEAR SHIP
British Govt. Plan (N.Z, Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, February 12. A nuclear merchant ship of 30,000 tons capable of 24 knots was planned by the British Government, the “Daily Telegraph” said today. It was to be. at sea by 1967. The Minister of Transport (Mr Marples) announced the plan at a press conference last night, said the newspaper. Invitations to discuss the building of the ship were sent yesterday to the Council of Shipping, representing Shippers, and the Shipbuilding Conference. Mr Marples said he could not estimate how much the Government was prepared to invest, said the “Daily Telegraph.”
